Wi-Fi Site Survey Checklist

Use this checklist to assess your current Wi-Fi environment and identify areas for improvement.

✅ Physical Layout

• Are APs placed above eye level and away from obstacles?
• Is there adequate coverage in corner offices, meeting rooms, and common areas?
• Are there thick walls or elevator shafts that might block signal?

✅ Network Planning

• Are overlapping channels in use (2.4 GHz: 1, 6, 11)?
• Is band steering or load balancing enabled on access points?
• Do devices roam effectively without disconnects?

✅ Security and Segmentation

• Are WPA2/WPA3 encryption standards enforced?
• Is guest Wi-Fi isolated from business systems?
• Are MAC address filters or captive portals used?

✅ Performance Monitoring

• Do you monitor Wi-Fi signal strength and client load?
• Are automatic firmware updates configured?
• Are logs reviewed for interference or drops?
